General
What is iScribe?
iScribe builds ambient AI medical scribe technology for specialty practices. We're on a mission to correct a fundamental flaw of modern medicine: documentation-related denials. iScribe AI pairs ambient notetaking with custom macros and AI-assisted E&M coding so you can craft claim-ready notes and defend your bottom line. Our lightweight, self-guided solution, iScribe Flex, runs on the same AI engine without EHR integration.
What's the difference between iScribe AI and iScribe Flex?
iScribe AI listens through the visit and pushes a structured note, along with discrete data, directly into your EHR. No copy-paste, no chat windows. iScribe Flex runs on the same AI engine, but you record from your phone or computer and paste the finished note into your chart yourself, with no integration required. Transitioning from iScribe Flex to iScribe AI later is easy. You keep all your data including notes and preferred configurations as part of the upgrade.
What specialties does iScribe support?
iScribe AI serves over 55 specialties and subspecialties, tailored specifically towards high-volume, procedure-heavy practices like orthopedics and urology. We offer the deepest level of support and integration for these two specialties including sophisticated customized macros, EHR integration, and AI-assisted E&M coding through iScribe Code Intelligence. We also support specialties such as OBGYN, ENT, family medicine/internal medicine/urgent care, neurology/neurosurgery, cardiology/cardiovascular, podiatry, gastroenterology, pain management, pulmonology, physical medicine & rehabilitation, general surgery, and behavioral health to name just a few.
Is iScribe right for a primary care or family medicine practice?
Yes, iScribe AI is an excellent solution for Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, and Urgent Care practices utilizing athenahealth, NextGen, Veradigm/AllScriptsPro, Altera/Touchworks, Epic, or PrimeSuite. If you're utilizing a different EHR, iScribe Flex may be a better fit—same rich ambient documentation, no need for integration.
Who's behind iScribe?
iScribe started in 2015 inside orthopedic practices with an EHR-integrated mobile app built for speech-to-text documentation. From day one, providers could dictate, select diagnoses, place orders, and complete E&M coding from their phone. A human scribe network came next, then, in 2023, we debuted an AI model trained on nearly a decade of institutional scribe knowledge no algorithm could replicate on its own. Long-tenured scribes helped engineer the prompts, and early-adopter physicians tested every version against their own standards. The entire physician base moved from human scribes to AI without losing a single provider. iScribe's leadership has spent decades on the front lines of specialty medicine, not just software.
How is iScribe different from other AI medical scribes?
We like to say that iScribe AI is a "surgical-grade" solution because it's built specifically around and for you: your preferences, your voice, your preferred structure, your specialty. Whereas most competitors rely on a generic AI engine along with generic templates, our expert team, including former clinicians and scribes, partners with you to engineer a bespoke experience resulting in exceptionally high-quality documentation. We take it one step further by combining precision with speed. iScribe AI pushes your finished note, plus discrete data, directly into your EHR, and pairs it with AI-assisted E&M coding so the note is claim-ready, not just written, in a matter of seconds. If you're not looking for full integration, iScribe Flex runs on the same AI engine as iScribe AI, resulting in an accurate, signature-ready note you can copy, paste, and edit directly in your preferred EHR.
iScribe AI
Which EHRs does iScribe AI integrate with?
athenahealth is our deepest integration; we are proud to be an athenaOne Preferred Partner. iScribe AI also integrates with NextGen, Veradigm/AllscriptsPro, Altera/TouchWorks, PrimeSuite, and Epic.
My EHR isn't on that list. Can I still use iScribe?
Yes. iScribe Flex is a self-guided solution that runs on the same AI engine and doesn't require EHR integration. You'll still have access to the same recording features and workflow capabilities along with the same high-quality output.
What does iScribe AI actually do during a visit?
iScribe AI listens through the visit and pushes an accurate, structured note including discrete data directly into your preferred EHR.
Here's how it works: Tap to start recording with any patient—your real EHR schedule is already in the app, so there's no new window to open. As the encounter unfolds, your macros are recorded and clinically relevant data is surfaced, allowing you to catch and correct any errors immediately. The full encounter is processed in seconds, and you leave the room with a structured note that pushes directly into your EHR without any copy/pasting. Review and sign while you're en route to your next patient.
What are macros, and why do they matter?
A macro is a trigger phrase that travels with pre-populated text associated with common observations or instructions. Designed to save time and create standardization encounter-to-encounter, macros are indispensable to high-volume, procedure-heavy practices. Before your trial begins, we develop and analyze your preferred macros, suggesting new ones or offering modifications. During the trial, we optimize them together so every note builds itself to spec before official adoption.
Can administrators manage macros for the whole team?
Yes. Administrators get full macro visibility with the ability to manage permissions at a provider, organization, or patient level, including updating a single provider's macros or rolling changes out to everyone. You can also manage AI preferences on a provider's behalf without looping them in for routine changes.
What is the Enterprise Management Console?
The Enterprise Management Console, or EMC, gives you a live view of how iScribe AI is being utilized across the whole practice. It includes usage reporting (who's recording and how often), macro management, seat management (coming soon), and support tickets visible to administrators organization-wide, not just the provider who filed them. For practices utilizing iScribe Code Intelligence, you'll also have access to a Coding Insights dashboard so you can assess coding patterns by provider.
Who can access my notes and recordings?
Providers can access their audio files directly in the EMC. All files are stored under SOC 2 compliance standards in alignment with your group's data retention needs. Downloads for audio files are "off" by default for every provider and customer; however, it is possible to enable downloads upon request.
What device and browser requirements do I need to use iScribe AI?
iScribe AI can be used on iPads and iPhones running on the latest three versions of iOS per Apple's Standards. At this time we support iOS 26, 18, and 17.

The Pilot
How does the free trial work?
Your 14-day trial isn't a demo; it's a comprehensive experience designed to help you get to know the iScribe team and see the full potential of iScribe AI in your practice. Discovery starts with your needs, not a sales pitch. After initial conversations, we share a virtual demo tailored to your workflow and specialty. For enterprise partners, a live, in-clinic mock encounter follows, using real patient interactions in our demo environment. After this, we formalize the partnership with a signed Master Service Agreement (MSA) covering the full scope and pricing.
Onboarding comes next: a kick-off call and virtual or on-site training to eliminate downtime and foster adoption for the team. Your dedicated customer success specialist stays with you after the trial ends and the migration to iScribe AI is complete. You can expect bi-weekly product updates, monthly touchpoints, and quarterly QBRs to ensure the platform is working exactly as you need it to.
Will trying iScribe disrupt my schedule?
No. We've developed an onboarding process that is built to eliminate downtime and reduce burden on the team. Our ambition is for day one to feel like day one hundred.
What happens after the 14-day trial?
If you're satisfied with the experience, we'll analyze trial usage and make platform adjustments, finalize your licenses, and introduce you to your broader support team including your dedicated customer success specialist. We know that switching tools and trialing multiple solutions is less than ideal, so we've made adoption simple. In fact, 92% of providers convert to full adoption after the trial.
Is there a contract, or can I cancel anytime?
Enterprise partnerships are formalized with a signed MSA during the trial period which confirms your full scope and pricing. To learn more about our terms and pricing, reach out to schedule your 14-day complimentary trial.

What AI technology powers iScribe?
iScribe combines advanced prompt engineering, provider-specific customization, and multiple best-in-class large language models (LLMs) and natural language processing (NLP) technologies. Rather than relying on a single domain-specific model, iScribe uses multiple frontier models that have consistently demonstrated superior performance. Enhanced by a team of expert former clinicians and scribes, iScribe AI's output is highly accurate, specialty-aware, and tailored to each provider on an individual basis.
Is my patient data used to train AI models?
No. iScribe customer data is never used to train public LLMs.
Do iScribe employees ever access my recordings?
As part of quality assurance, iScribe employees may review recordings internally to support provider-specific customization, troubleshoot issues, and improve the customer experience. This information is never shared externally.
How long does iScribe retain audio recordings?
Audio files are stored under SOC 2 compliance standards in alignment with your group's data retention needs. We work with each practice to determine their preferred storage configuration based on their security requirements.
How accurate is iScribe's transcription?
iScribe's automatic speech recognition (ASR) technology achieves greater than 90% transcription accuracy, exceeding 95% when optimized for a provider's specialty, audio environment, and dictation style.
Does iScribe AI support languages other than English?
Yes. When you enable Multilingual Support, iScribe AI captures complete multi-speaker conversations in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese, Italian, German, Dutch, Hindi, and Russian. It's built for providers and their patients who are bilingual or multilingual. If a live or virtual interpreter is used during the encounter, there's no need to enable Multilingual Support. Our AI model will capture the conversation in English, recognizing both the provider and the interpreter.
Do iScribe AI and iScribe Flex work offline or without an internet connection?
Yes. You can record an encounter using iScribe AI on your iPhone or iPad without internet connection. Audio files are automatically saved in the app on the device which means you're still able to record during intermittent service disruption. If you're experiencing a prolonged outage, you can continue recording on your device and submit all pending recordings later so no valuable data is lost. If you are utilizing iScribe Flex and recording via the web, we autosave progress and audio locally in the browser. Please note, a stable internet connection is required to transcribe, send, or push notes.
