As a Lead Backend .NET Developer at iScribeHealth, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the core infrastructure that powers our real-time AI documentation and medical billing platform. You’ll work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your contributions will directly impact clinicians and patients. • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and performant .NET APIs and backend services that power real-time AI scribe functionality and billing workflows.
• Lead backend API development and architecture efforts using .NET Core and C#, ensuring extensibility, fault tolerance, and high availability.
• Drive the design and implementation of integration architecture strategies for external EHR systems, including Epic, athenahealth, and other healthcare platforms.
• Serve as an integration specialist, developing and maintaining secure, high-throughput interfaces between EHR systems and internal infrastructure.
• Implement robust data security and compliance protocols for all integrations, ensuring full adherence to HIPAA, PHI, and healthcare industry standards.
• Design and maintain failover strategies for all integration endpoints, ensuring continuous availability and minimal disruption during outages.
• Own the deployment, maintenance, and support of developed integration endpoints, ensuring version control, testing, and CI/CD pipelines are followed.• Develop and manage dashboards, monitoring tools, and alerts for real-time visibility into integration health, EHR system status, and internal data flows.
• Create and maintain detailed integration documentation, including technical specifications, internal wikis, and onboarding guides for engineering and support teams.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with ML engineers, frontend developers, DevOps, and product stakeholders to deliver end-to-end, production-ready solutions.
• Champion clean code practices, automated testing, observability, and DevOps best practices in a healthcare-grade production environment.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct peer code reviews, and contribute to architectural decisions that support our mission and scale.
• 2+ years experience in backend development, with deep expertise in .NET Core and C#. Even if you don’t meet the exact years of experience listed, we encourage you to apply—skills, potential, and passion matter just as much.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous processing, SQL/NoSQL databases, and distributed systems.
• Experience with Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, Cosmos DB, Traffic Manager, Front Door, etc.).
• Passion for building resilient, secure, and observable systems in a regulated environment (HIPAA, PHI).
• Experience integrating with or building around EHR systems, FHIR APIs, or medical billing tools is a strong plus.
• Ability to mentor junior engineers, do thorough code reviews, and drive architectural decisions.
• Prior entrepreneurship experience
• Prior experience in health tech, EHR integrations, AI, or machine learning.
• Exposure to serverless computing, edge AI, or emerging cloud-native architectures.
• Familiarity with low-code/no-code solutions, automation, and developer tools.
